When choosing a place to go on holidays, it’s important to feel welcomed by our chosen accommodation even before we book. Mitbringsl Lodge understood this, and commissioned a new website design not only to welcome their customers, but to help them feel relaxed before they vacation begins.
Mitbringsl Lodge rents beautiful and authentic alpine apartments in the centre of the Alps, in Serfaus, Tyrol. Their previous website was tired and cumbersome, with the design taking up the entire screen space and preventing clients from discovering all-important information. The combination of pop up boxes, old colours and average photography didn’t give the warm and welcoming impression that I knew Mitbringsl could give.
I wanted to bring the design to life, giving it a more modern feel – one that reflected the true spirit of the Lodges as they are in real life. The website also needed to be easy to navigate, to entice younger families to book an apartment for their getaway.
I began by tidying up Mitbringsl’s overall brand. It’s a rare pleasure working with people like their commissioner, Annika, who was open to updating their branding to match the new website. This is not an easy decision for brands who have owned the same corporate design for such a long time! While it wasn’t a full branding overhaul, I did tidy up the colours as well as the typographic structure so that Mitbringsl’s branding would be cohesive and easily recognisable. At the same time, I commissioned new photographs of the Lodges to match the website’s new easy, modern feel. I worked with a local photographer and provided creative direction to ensure the photos would match the identity of the new website. Finally, I recreated the website so that all the information would be instantly available while simply scrolling through.
The final product is a simple and classy website design – there’s nothing too fancy or playful. Instead, there is just the right amount of detail and colour to represent the warmth of Mitbringsl Lodge, and to build an emotional connection with people who want to book an easy holiday.
